Jarrett passed away on December 31, 2008, from an injury when the fire truck he was driving overturned and crashed, pinning Jarrett inside - upside down.  He was wearing his seatbelt and it did do the job in keeping Jarrett in...it was blunt force trauma that killed him.

There were 103 Fire Fighters to pass away in the year of 2008.  Jarrett was # 103 on New Year's Eve.

It's been a long hard year for us.  I feel that it's been a little harder on me, since Jarrett also worked part-time at the same Post Office that I worked at.  Therefore, I got to see him more than everyone else.  I got to see him dance & hear him sing while putting up mail and see how hard he worked - knowing that he was working on his only off day from his regular job.

He didn't do the fire fighting job for the money.  As other fire fighters & their families know...it's not for the money.  He loved his job and enjoyed it to the fullest.  We just wish he were still here to keep enjoying it!

I WISH YOU WERE HERE

Written by Becky Little on March 4, 2009

I wish you were here

I miss you every day

I cry for you each morning, noon and night

No words can really be said to help ease the pain

People want to help they just don't know how

They say the wrong things at times

They just don't understand

I wish you were here!

~I love you my Jarrett~

                                    ~I AM~

WITH TEARS ROLLING DOWN MY FACE I THINK AND WONDER ABOUT ALL THE MOTHERS (AND FATHERS) WHO HAVE LOST A CHILD AND IT BREAKS MY HEART TO KNOW AND SEE SO MANY BECAUSE NOW~I AM ONE OF THEM.

I SEE JUST HOW MANY YEARS THAT HAVE PASSED FOR OTHER PARENTS AND I CAN'T IMAGINE ME BEING IN THEIR SHOES. ALL-THE-WHILE~I AM.

I STILL CAN'T SEE MYSELF IN THE FUTURE YEARS AS A PARENT WHO HAS LOST A CHILD~YET KNOWING DEEP DOWN WITH EVERY DAY THAT PASSES~I AM.

THE THOUGHTS THAT RUN THROUGH MY MIND ON A DAILY BASIS MAKES ME WONDER JUST HOW I MADE IT THROUGH THE DAY.

WE ALL KEEP GOING FOR MANY DIFFERENT REASONS AND YET WONDER HOW WE DO IT.

ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT SOMEWHERE OUT THERE SOMEONE IS THINKING OF YOUR LOVED ONE~I AM.
